Class Instructors
All instructors are Jazzercise certified
Each Jazzercise instructor is professionally trained and certified by Jazzercise, Inc. All instructors are CPR certified and receive continuing education in all aspects of dance and exercise physiology. Instructor training curriculum and course materials are consistent with the AFAA (Aerobics and Fitness Association of America) Basic Standards and Guidelines. Instructors are trained to demonstrate modifications to apply to varying fitness levels and teaching skills are carefully monitored to assure the high standards of Jazzercise, Inc.
Caroline Mosley - Center Owner
Certified Jazzercise Instructor since March of 2004. Caroline attended classes at the San Leandro Jazzercise Fitness Center and was a Class Manager for some time before beginning the necessary training to become a Jazzercise Instructor. In March of 2005, Caroline became the Center Owner. Since then, Caroline has increased the number of classes offered and installed an aerobic floor. Aside from running the Center, Caroline is married and has a full-time job.
Maureen Gilhooly - Associate Instructor
(Re)Certified Jazzercise Instructor since 1999, initially certified in 1993. Maureen was a student and class manager for over 10 years prior to becoming an Instructor. Maureen was re-certified in 1999 after her son, Ian was born. Motherhood brought on significant challenges and Maureen could no longer put in the long hours that her consulting business demanded. (computer graphics and animation). Where she once analyzed the motion of animated characters and pixels on the computer screen, Maureen now “eagle eyes” the movements of Jazzercise students on the dance floor. Maureen is happily married and enjoys drawing, yoga and playing on the computer.
Lisa Peters - Associate Instructor
Certified Instructor since August of 2003. Lisa teaches regularly at the Center on Wednesday mornings at 9:15AM and helps to cover on other days of the week whenever possible. She has been a terrific addition to the Center and you will love her energy and style.
Erica Fornshell - Associate Instructor
Certified Instructor since June 2007. Erica was a student with the Center for about 3 years before becoming an instructor. Her high-energy and fun style makes for a great time and a tough workout! Join her for class on most evenings @ 6:30PM and every other Saturday morning. Aside from teaching, Erica has a full-time job as the office manager for a SF architecture firm.
Kim Heller - Associate Instructor
Certified Instructor since October of 2004. Kim currently teaches several of our 9:15AM morning classes each week and occasionally helps out at our evening classes. She has great energy and the students love her.
Andrea McGuire-Ocanas - Associate Instructor
Certified Jazzercise Instructor since January 2008. Andrea had been an avid Jazzercise student for over 6 years before becoming an instructor. Her appreciation and love of Jazzercise is already apparent in class. She may be one of our newer instructors, but she is a natural and will give you a terrific workout every time. Andrea is happily married and works full time for her family business. You can typically find Andrea teaching on M/W/F at 5:30pm and on Sundays @ 9:15am.
Megan Hyde - Associate Instructor
Certified Jazzercise Instructor since 2003. Megan has been dancing for 20 years and has experience in jazz, hip-hop, cheerleading, gymnastics, ballet, and coaching award winning dance teams. She is currently a Kindergarten teacher and loves working with people of all ages. Join Megan for an awesome Step and Jazzercise Express class on Sunday evenings!
Geri Navarro - Associate Instructor
Certified Instructor since June 2007. Geri enjoyed the benefits of Jazzercise so much that she decided to become an Instructor in 2007. Her enthusiasm for Jazzercise and desire to maintain a fit life-style is truly inspirational. Geri teaches class on Thursdays & Fridays at 8am. She is also a dedicated wife and mother of 2 beautiful children who keep her quite busy. Geri is also a full-time registered nurse. We are thrilled to have her as a part of the instructor team here in San Leandro!
Ruth Ruark - Associate Instructor
Certified Instructor since October of 2004. Ruth is like a breath of fresh air! She has been teaching every Monday @ 9:15AM for some time and the students just love her enthusiasm for Jazzercise! We are grateful to have her as part of our team!
Carolina Albayeros - Associate Instructor
Certified Jazzercise Instructor since June 2007. Although Carolina has just recently been certified, you would never know it! Her rhythm, energy and enthusiasm shines through at each class that she teaches and she will give you a great workout. Carolina teaches regularly on Tuesday mornings @ 8am and on some weekend mornings. Aside from teaching, Carolina delivers babies at Stanford University as a surgical/medical assistant.
Grace Boyson - Sub Instructor
Certified Jazzercise Instructor for over 25 years. Grace was one of the first instructors in San Leandro, teaching at Wilson School, then at Bancroft Jr High for many years until changing to substitute status. Grace has also been a nurse during this time and found Jazzercise to be a terrific balance to that career. "It's great being with people, working on their health and fitness when the other times I'm with people who could only wish to be as active." She is currently the Charge Nurse in a Cardiac Unit specializing in heart surgeries. Grace is happily married and has 2 beautiful children. Grace has been a long-time Sub Instructor for the Center and we appreciate her very much.
Adrienne FitzPatrick - Associate Instructor (Relocated**)
Certified Jazzercise Instructor since March of 2004, Adrienne has held AFAA and ACE certifications since 1990. She has been teaching dance, cardio dance, cardio funk, and ballet boot camp since junior high. Adrienne has been an aqua aerobics instructor, water tai chi instructor, personal trainer, dancer, and choreographer. She helped develop a national health and fitness program that included an aerobic training curriculum overseas and choreographed the fitness routine for a finalist in the Ms. Fitness New Zealand Competition. Adrienne says "I will never forget my first Jazzercise class. Everyone was so friendly and you could tell they were there just to dance and have a good time." She strives to keep that sentiment alive in her classes. (**Adrienne relocated to the East Coast in the Spring of 2006, but makes special appearances at the Center when she visits the area.)
